I Think I Might Be Crazy…

…really though. I think I might just be nuts. I have two small children at home, babies really (almost 1 & 3) and I decided I wanted to start a blog. I really don’t have any idea what I am doing and I have very little time to myself to dedicate to blogging. I will tell you why I decided to do this though; I need it.

Being a stay at home mom really started to take it’s toll on me. I was becoming a sad, depressed loner and going stir crazy locked up in my house in the dead of winter with two small, needy children. The only thing that I was doing for myself was working out and that became my therapy. After a while though I started to have that empty feeling again because I had no one to share my passion of healthy things with. My 3 year old enthusiastically accompanied me while I exercised but lets face it, three year olds are not a very good substitute for adult interaction.

So I decided I wanted to find an outlet for my love of all things fitness and food and started an Instagram account (@mommymightgocrazy). As you can guess, I named it so because I was literally on the brink of going insane. Through Instagram, I discovered this whole other world of women (and men) just like myself who love fitness and sharing healthy recipes and keeping each other accountable. I began connecting with other women who I shared a lot in common with and was inspired at how they empowered one another. I also discovered this community of fitness bloggers and I couldn’t help but want to be a part of it.

I have such a passion for fitness and I dedicate so much of my time to it that I felt maybe a blog would be a great way to share that with who ever wants to listen (or read, haha). Instagram is great for pictures and twitter is great for a 140 character thought but I wanted a way to bring it all together that I could really express myself and a blog is the perfect format for that.

So I as I begin this blogging journey, please bear with me. My 11 month old still doesn’t sleep through the night, my three year old wants to do whatever Mommy is doing and I often forget how to form a proper sentence. I want to do this though and as nuts as it seems (to me), I think it will open some doors for me that might just be my saving grace.

Please stay tuned for my next blog post…I promise it will be something fitness or food related and not just a self pitying ramble of thoughts 🙂

  1. Great first post! Welcome to the blogging world!! I don’t know how u do it with 2 kids. I have a 2 yr old and drives me crazy sometimes! I’m also a SAHM so I know exactly what you mean about getting adult interaction ! Can’t wait to to read your next post!

    • Thank you so much! I’m so happy I’m getting to meet & interact with other moms who I can identify with 🙂 My two are a lot of fun but they don’t sit down and the baby doesn’t nap!!! I’m hoping I can keep up with blogging because I really think it will be good for my sanity! I love your domain name “onemotherofaday”, sure does describe the SAHM life pretty accurately 😉

Congrats on getting your blog started! I found joining the YMCA really helped. It’s a great value, childcare is included or inexpensive (varies from place to place) and they have great family programs. I go nearly everyday to get some me time, which is part of why I’m so fit.i can only imagine what it’s like to be cooped up all day in the cold weather. I live in CA, so I’m thankful we can get outside often, but it must be hard if you can’t really do that. Looking forward to more posts!

    • Thank you! I’m still trying to figure it out! I’m just wrapping up my next post, hoping to finish it tonight once the kiddos are sleeping :). I am fortunate enough to have all my gym equipment at my home so I don’t have to spend the extra $$ to go to the gym but it’s definitely kept me isolated. I live in a very small town in a rural area of Upstate, NY & there isn’t much going on here in the winter! Most of my friends have moved to bigger more exciting places & the other moms I know don’t care as much about fitness…no fun! California sounds so warm and wonderful right now!!! I am dreaming of warmer weather when I can get outside with the kids!

Welcome! I have been where you are. That sad, lonely, depression can be all consuming. I’m super happy that you are looking for outlets to keep your sanity!
Hugs and hang on for the ride!
    You’re going to do great!

  5. Hi, I can totally relate! I have an almost-three-year-old and right now I’m between jobs. I started blogging because we moved from California to Colorado recently, and I haven’t made very many mommy friends here yet. Glad to have found you through Instagram! Lovely blog you have started here.

    • Thank you so much! Having small kids is rough enough and while I don’t have many mommy friends with similar interests, I can’t imagine moving to a new place! I hear Colorado is beautiful though! I’m happy to have found you through Instagram as well, I really enjoy connecting with other moms who I can relate to! 🙂
